The Humane Association tried out something new on July 19 that raised awareness for the need for homes for abondoned and homeless animals. The Woofstock festival is an event specifically designed for dogs and thier owner’s to have an awesome time together and to meet other dogs as well.
Woofstock is definitely one of a kind. Not only were there loads of pet-friendly activites, but also musical performances and a plethora of vendors. Wrap It Up, Gannons, and the Humane Association were just a few of the vendors that had food for both humans and pets. Bands including Tim Heron, JPEG, Prime Time Unplugged, Dirt Road Ruckus, Pale Green Stars, and Jessica Novak with Brian Golden rocked the stage while people and puppies both enjoyed the great music.
There were also a few contests for the pooches to compete in including best hippy dog, most impressive trick, and dog/owner look-alike.
The variety of dogs that showed up was certainly not something you see every day. The dog that impressed me the most was actually the only dog of it’s kind in CNY, the Komondor. The hair on this dog was unlike anything I have ever seen. We’re talking dreadlocks on a dog here. Like I said, one of the most impressive dogs I have ever seen.
With a great turnout of over 1,000 people, Woofstock 2014 raised over $7,000!
All in all, I personally had a great time and I’m really looking forward to next year and seeing even more amazing dogs!
